Elevar la vi(d)a: La Torre

Abstract

[ES] El Trabajo de Fin de Máster titulado Elevar la vi(d)a: La Torre , trata de jugar con dos conceptos: el de elevar la vía y la vida.

Tras el paso de la DANA por Valencia, se evidenció como el eje actual del tren genera una barrera. Con la premisa del taller de transformar el eje ferroviario en un tranvía, se decide elevar la vía en el tramo que transcurre junto al barrio de La Torre, solucionando así el cambio de cota al cruzar el río Turia y liberando la cota cero en caso de nuevas inundaciones. Desde ahí se elabora un proyecto urbano expandiendo el barrio de La Torre y configurando el nuevo eje, conectando las nuevas edificaciones con la pasarela.

La propuesta proyectual se centra en mejorar la vida de los mayores y dependientes, diseñando un nuevo modo de habitar que se aleja de los modelos residenciales tradicionales. Se consideran los diferentes grados de autonomía, definiendo también el espacio urbano buscando las relaciones con el entorno, la accesibilidad universal y la conexión con la nueva pasarela. Además se promueve la creación de actividades y la convivencia intergeneracional, mejorando las condiciones sociales del barrio.

[EN] The Master's Thesis entitled "Elevating Life: La Torre" explores two concepts: elevating the railway line and life itself.

Following the devastating DANA storm in Valencia, it became clear how the existing railway line creates a barrier. Based on the workshop's premise of transforming the railway line into a tramway, the decision was made to elevate the track in the section adjacent to the La Torre neighborhood. This addresses the change in elevation when crossing the Turia River and frees up the ground level in case of future flooding. From this starting point, an urban project was developed, expanding the La Torre neighborhood and configuring the new railway line, connecting the new buildings to the pedestrian bridge.

The design proposal focuses on improving the lives of the elderly and dependent individuals, creating a new way of living that departs from traditional residential models. It considers different levels of autonomy and defines the urban space, seeking relationships with the surrounding environment, universal accessibility, and connection to the new pedestrian bridge. In addition, the creation of activities and intergenerational coexistence is promoted, improving the social conditions of the neighborhood.
